Swami is decked in Garlands

one of the rare pictures where Swami is decked in Garlands..it taken during Swami's visit to Kerala in the 1960's..this was one of the very few instances where Swami permitted all the devotees around him to garland Him...

Одна из редких фотографий, на которых Свами украшен гирляндами. Она была сделана во время визита Свами в Кералу в 1960-х годах. Это был один из очень немногих случаев, когда Свами разрешил всем присутствующим преданным одеть на Него гирлянду ...

The wheel and its hub *** Колесо и его ступица

       26. The wheel and its hub

BHAARATH is the sovereign of all nations, so far as spiritual dominion is concerned; and which dominion can be richer than that? She alone is capable of scattering the clouds of doubt, anxiety and fear that darken the minds of men and turn them to competitive adventures in the realm of material gain and glory. These clouds have appeared over the Indian sky also; people here too are admiring darkness and slighting daylight. They blindly imitate the manners and morals of the West and open the doors of their hearts to the flood of greed and discontent. Of course, the material world which science analyses and studies, and provides the means to control and regulate, is necessary for fulfilling the demands of living, but, it is wrong to imagine that world can give us lasting peace or joy.
The Vedhas and Shaasthras of India were not collected or compiled by fools or knaves, they were put together by people, who gave up the attractions of comfortable life, as so many heroes of scientific discovery like Edison do now: they retired into the forests, so that they could concentrate on the solution of the problems that challenged them. In every statement in the Vedhas and Shaasthras, you get the genuine ring of actual experience and personal thrill. Do not sit on the bank of the river and pronounce judgements of the depth of the waters, or their taste to potability. Step down and examine for yourselves; that is the sign of the sincere seeker of Truth. If you do not, you can be rejected as a prejudiced or perverse witness. Those who pronounce My act of creating Vibhuuthi (holy ash) as 'magic' are also of the same category, for they talk without any qualification. They cannot tolerate the splendour of the Divine to disturb the darkness they have learnt to like. The impact of material civilisation has hardened their hearts, softened their brains, and made their lives hollow and vain.

Four steps to freedom (Prashaanthi Nilayam, 23-11-1974)

       52. Four steps to freedom

THE culture of this ancient land is as deep as it is vast, it is built on strong and sustaining principles of human development. But, Indians at the present time are neglecting its lessons and entangling themselves in the search for material joys and pleasures. They ignore the true and eternal values. They turn a deaf ear to the call of the Divine; they respond to the siren voice of the worldly. This is the twentieth century, the Age of Science and Technology. There is plenty of material comforts and sensual pleasure easily available. So driven by an insane urge for the temporal and the trivial, man rushes into rain, and loses the precious heritage of Aathmic (pure spiritual) treasure which the culture promises him. In fact, if only man knew the purpose and plan of Life, he would not waste his years and his skills in the pursuit of mere time-bound joys. That he is everywhere engrossed in these endeavours is a pitiable fact, which can be attributed to his misfortune or his ignorance. Of course, man has lost faith in himself; so, there is no wonder that he has lost faith in God also. Only those who know themselves and have confidence in themselves can acquire knowledge of God and confidence in God. Know thyself, first; then, your attempt to know the world will be rendered simple.

The garden of God (2.04.1973.)

Выступление Бхагавана 2 апреля 1973, Хайдерабад

16. The garden of God

MAN has to recognise his indebtedness to society and his duty towards it; this is the best way to solve the troubles of the day. Attention is paid only to arguments and counter-arguments, propositions and oppositions, plans and programmes; the aim of the egocentred is more to win a verbal victory than achieve a valid target. No attempt is made to foster the social virtues of honesty, tolerance and cordiality.

SAI and Sri Tirumalacharyulu

Sri Tirumalacharyulu was the learned man of the court at Venkatagiri Princely State. Ever since 1910, for almost 40 years, he spent his life in pursuit of spiritual matters and devotion to God under the patronage of the chieftains of this state. He had written a book of poems titled, "Sri Sathya Sai Baba Ramayanamu", containing in brief, the most wonderful divine story of Bhagawan Baba. He also wrote a book titled, "Sathya Sai Satakarnu" containing 100 poems with emphasis on devotion.

When Baba visited Venkatagiri on 10th September 1950, he penned 5 poems named, "Pancha Rathnopahara" (Garland of 5 precious Gems) on Swami and dedicated them at the Divine Lotus Feet of Swami. He was feeling intensely Swami's divine grace. He used to visit Puttaparthi, often thereafter, for Sivarathri and Navarathri festivals. Because of his good luck in seeing Bhagawan, touching Him and serving Him, Bhagawan blessed Tirumalacharyulu with the vision of Mahavishnu in his dream on one night and initiated him with "Thiru Mantropadesa" (Holy name of Narayana).

Once one of his daughters was suffering from severe stomach pain and Swami had told that she would not need surgery and He would take care of her. Then she went to live with her husband in Hyderabad. After some time, again the stomach pain started tormenting her. Swami went to their house, touched her with His divine hand, assured her not to be afraid of and then left their house. At that time Swami was in Puttaparthi itself. The doctors of Osmania Hospital who examined her said it was only due to divinegracethatshehada re-birth.

исцеляешь и растёшь

Remember, when you forgive, you heal
And when you let go, you grow

Помни, когда ты прощаешь, ты исцеляешь
А когда ты отпускаешь, ты растешь

Свами и Махатма Ганди

WHAT HAPPENED IN PUTTAPARTI ON THE DAY WHEÑ MAHATMA GANDHIJI WAS ASSASINATED...?   Friday, January 30, 1948

Mahatma Gandhi ji (1869 - 1948)

On the afternoon of the 30th of January, Baba led a few people to the Chitravati river. He ran back to the Mandir all of a sudden and bolted the door. He stepped in and out of His room intermittently until 7:30 pm.

When He finally came out, He told the devotees that a great soul had passed away. After a couple of days, one of the devotees read in ‘The Hindu’ (a daily newspaper) that Mahatma Gandhi, The Father of the Nation, had been assassinated in New Delhi at about 5:30 pm, on the 30th of January. It happened almost at the same time that Baba behaved in a strange manner on the 30th.

23. Duty of resistance to Adharma

Duty of resistance to Adharma

When the Truth of the Self is known
Bliss is experienced;
Without This truth, only anxiety remains;
To know Brahman- is to be Brahman.
Know ye , this truth.

CLAY is one, but pots are varied. Gold is one. Ornaments are many. Milk is white, though the cows may be of different colours. The Omni-Self is one; but It assumes innumerable bodies. The Divine is one, who is hidden in all selves. He is the embodiment of Truth. His glory is infinite. Though Truth is one, it is experienced in many forms.
There are innumerable persons who cannot understand God. There are quite a few who claim to comprehend God. But no one can at any time, anywhere completely grasp the nature of the Divine. "Wherefrom speech and mind turn back without reaching it," says the Upanishad. How can any one describe what is beyond thought and words?

Влияние Даршана

Whomsoever I look upon undergoes a change for better and acquires new potency, which continues to gain strength day after day. Never under-estimate the beneficial effects of having My darshan.

- Sri Sathya Sai

Sri Appayya Dikshita ( 1520 - 1593 ) by Dr.Ramesan - A review.

Sri Appayya Dikshita was a beacon light who belonged to the prosperous sixteenth century India. He was a great scholar and spiritual leader who was known for his balanced approach. A number of scholars and historians have done great service by sharing details about Sri Appayya Dikshita through their works, however the book by Dr.N.Ramesan M.A., Ph.D., I.A.S. (Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh) published by Srimad Appayya Dikshitendra Granthavali Prakasana Samithi in Hyderabad during the year 1972 tops the list. The author most respectfully dedicates his monumental work to His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathy Swamigal, the Sankaracharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.

The hard bound book was discovered from the collection of Advocate Vaidyanathakrishnan who was known for his thorough knowledge of music, taxes and our scriptures. Vaidyanathakrishnan was associated with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Coimbatore for a number of years. The Barrister - at - Law, C.R.Pattabhiraman of Chennai has rendered a marvellous " Foreword" for this book.
